How to Restrict Cell Entries to Whole Numbers in Microsoft Excel 2010


Data validation is used to control the type of data or the values that users enter into a cell.
Follow the instructions below to ensure that only positive whole numbers are entered.

1. Select one or more cells to validate.
2. On the [Data] tab, in the [Data Tools] group, click [Data Validation].
The Data Validation dialog box will be displayed as shown below:



3. In the [Data Validation] dialog box, click the [Settings] tab.
4. In the [Allow] box, select [Whole number].
5. In the [Data] box, select the type of restriction that you want.
Depending on your selection, you may need to enter values at the minimum, maximum, or value boxes. 
6. Select or clear the Ignore blank check box to handle blank (null) values.
7. Click on [OK].
